One cannot divide the history of images into two separate chapters: painting on one side, photography on the other. Nor it would be to pretend
that the history of fresco is different from the history of painting on canvas.
Every medium is framed by historical characteristics, linked to the evolution of technics and ideologies.
On one side there are documents, and artworks on the other.
Industrial drawing, the letter to the tax collector on one hand, literature and art drawing on the other.

Artwork is not to be explained. Neither it is to be read. One contemplates and interprets it. Artwork is inexhaustible and remains an enigma. >>>
