Jean-Claude Bélégou Diversions : LES BLASONS 2024
At the beginning of the sixteenth century, the Coats of Arms of the Female Body gave occasion for virtuoso poetic games, celebrating the different parts of the female body. The best known is the epigram of Clément Marot's Beau Tétin published in 1535. It was natural that after my series Morphologies and Bribes et fragments, I entered into this logic, exploring as closely as possible the details of a body.
For the list of Coats of Arms, I referred, somewhat freely, to the beautiful book published by the NRF in Paris 1982: Blasons anatomiques du corps féminin, prefaced by Pascal Laîné with an afterword by Pascal Quignard. So I kept the names of periods, even if for some parts of the body, they have lost a little of their poetry...
